Looking for a school? New to Accrington? Here's a few reasons why you might want to choose SASJ...|
I am always happy to welcome new faces to our family, and appreciate that choosing the right school is of huge importance to any parent.
When thinking about choosing a school for your child, I always encourage parents to make a visit - come and visit us on a normal school day, and get a feel for what makes us special. Many visitors have commented on the family feel and friendly welcome - why not come and experience it for yourself?

Good Friends in school

Working beyond the classroom|
Learning doesn't stop when we leave class....children have opportunities to go beyond their own class to help others.
Mass in school and Church
We serve the parish of St Annes & St Josephs, with Father Stamp as our Parish Priest. Father comes into school each month to lead a Mass with the school - sometimes for the whole school, sometimes for specific parts of the school. We also celebrate the Holy Days of Obligation and the main religious festivals.
Father Stamp supports the children and families in year 3 who wish to take their next step on their journey of faith - the Sacraments of Reconcilliation and Communion. This programme starts every January and runs through till June.

The Committe has reformed this year, with the aid of several teachers and parents.
Support beyond the classroom|
We have a dedicated school counsellor who comes into school each week. Sarah works with children who have been through difficult times at home and helps them work through their feelings and emotions, helping them to cope with whatever life is throwing at them.
At some point, most children will struggle with some aspect of reading, writing or maths - most will be able to deal with this in class through the support of their class teacher and support assistant. Some pupils need additional help and support, so each afternoon we have a team of support assistants who work with children throughout the school to help address issues in core subjects - giving focused intervention to help them close any gaps!
We have a dedicated home-school liaison officer - Wendy Schofield. Wendy works through school to support families in their homes, leading meeting, involving additional agencies, signposting parents to extra support, all with the aim of giving children as stable a home life as possible.
