Acorn Class - Reception/Year 1 2022 - 2023

Miss Kidd

We are a fantastic class family of two adults and some wonderful pupils who love learning and having fun along the way!

EYFS is an exciting year during which the children are encouraged to become enthusiastic, independent learners. All children are unique individuals and as we get to know our wonderful Acorns, their interests are interwoven into the learning that takes place very day within the different areas of continuous provision set up in our amazing classroom.

We adhere to the Statutory Framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the four guiding principles that shape practice within Early Years settings.

Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.

Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.

Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.

We want our pupils to feel safe, happy and thrive in their learning environment and endeavour to make each day count as each child begins their school journey with us. Please access the Tapestry website, on which you will be able to participate in adding to the evidence which will showcase your child's learning journey.

Our themes this year are:

Getting to Know You

Let's Celebrate

The Big Freeze

The Land Before Time

How Does Your Garden Grow?

All Things Bright and Beautiful

To help communicate between class and home, we have Class Dojo which allows parents and school to keep in touch and see what the children in class have been learning. Check this app regularly for updates and information to support your child’s learning at home.

We also use some amazing online resources to support your child’s learning. ‘Bug club’ for home reading, ‘Numbots’ for maths and ‘Charanga’ for music. Please check your child’s log in details and have fun learning at home.

We hope you enjoy looking at our photos, which I am sure you will agree, show lots of fun and happiness being had in our amazing class!
