Foreign Languages

From early in their school life at SASJ, we encourage children to speak in different languages when we are taking the register or counting etc.

Later on, in Years 3 -6, we teach Spanish lessons. The skills that the children learn in these lessons are built upon each year to give them a sound base for learning it in high school.

Learning a foreign language also allows children to build on their cultural awareness and develop communication and understanding skills in a whole new language. We aim to ensure that children to foster positive attitudes to other cultures and use their knowledge with growing confidence and competence to understand what they hear and read, and to express themselves in both speech and writing.
