Outdoor Classroom

Our outdoor classroom is accessible at all times. The children have the choice to free flow between indoor and outdoor provision all day, rain, hail or snow! The children have access to full waterproof suits if they choose to engage in wet or messy play outdoors. We encourage all children to bring wellies to school but we do have spares.

Our outdoor classroom has areas of provision which attempt to mirror the indoor classroom but on a larger scale to develop gross motor skills and every area of learning through different experiences...

WATER AREA

Children love to work as a team here and use the guttering and tubes to problem solve to transport the water. We hear so many fantastic thoughtful conversations taking place and observe so much determination! The small shed beside the water wall contains lots of water play resources such as jugs, sea animals and lots more.

OUTDOOR KITCHEN

Our indoor home corner kitchen is a firm favourite with cooking and role playing familiar experiences. However, it just gets better with our outdoor kitchen as this provides a whole new experience! We enjoy getting messy and following recipes using our amazing maths skills to make leaf lasagne, muddy milkshakes and many more delicious treats. We love to add lavender and herbs to our recipes to make the food smell wonderful...

Children love to use their amazing imagination in this area and build vehicles, buildings, dens and assault courses! Lots of talking and negotiating takes place here with great team work skills.

LITERACY AREA

Children use the writing shed as a base to collect resources to support writing and encourage gross mark making. They are encouraged to take resources from this area to any other area outside which includes clipboards, paint pens, chalk, large brushes and many different writing tools. The children also enjoy transporting the 3 big mark making boards on wheels to different areas of provision where they can use chalk, wipeboard pens or paint pens.
