Year 2/3 2024 - 2025

Mrs O'leary

Hello and welcome to Year 3.

Year 3 is an exciting year at St Anne's and St Joseph's, with the children moving up from Infants and Key Stage 1 and beginning to enjoy the juniors.

I am the class teacher, Mrs O'Leary.

In Maths, we are really keen to consolidate some of those basic skills which underpin so much learning. We will continue to focus on our times tables, place value and gaining a better understanding of number. I am keen to share my love of maths with the children!

As always, reading is very important in Year 3.  We will continue to make time in class for all sorts of reading: guided reading, reading for pleasure, shared reading and teacher reading.

The children will have spelling tests every Friday.  These will be based on our spelling lessons and on the Year 3 list of expected words.

Throughout the week in all that we do, we will be focusing on kindness. The children are encouraged to always be kind and always be brave.  They should try their best in all that they do, and look after one another. Our classroom is a place of kindness, where the children can have the confidence to try hard and achieve great things!  In Elm Class, anything is possible!

PE is on Tuesdays so please make sure the children have a PE kit in school.

My main means of communication with parents will be through the Class Dojo.

All pupils have access to TT Rock Stars and the Century app, so that they can access learning at home as well as in school. Please contact via Class Dojo if a login or password is forgotten.

Please do contact me if you have any questions at all.
