Science

Science at SASJ

At St Anne’s and St Joseph’s, our Science Curriculum is designed so that all children to have:

• curiosity and a passion for scientific inquiry, rooted in our Catholic ethos - we commit to academic excellence and moral integrity, encouraging students to explore the wonders of creation while cultivating a respect for the world around them.

• an understanding of how Science links to rest of our curriculum (including mathematics, technology, and the humanities)

• knowledge of the relevance of Science in everyday life. For instance, while studying habitats, students can apply mathematical skills in data analysis and explore ecosystems through Geography.

• the ability to envisage diverse careers in STEM fields by fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Our Catholic Curriculum.

Science enables us to plumb the mysteries of the mind of the Creator of the universe and inform our world view through a deeper understanding of the inter-connectedness of all levels of creation. Scientific exploration and discovery help children to recognise their potential and responsibility through the development of humility and the dependence on their ability to discern how to make the right choices. Science encourages students to respond to the big questions of the purpose and meaning of life as it works in collaboration with other disciplines within the curriculum.

How great are God’s riches! How deep are his wisdom and knowledge! Who can explain his decisions? Who can understand his ways?

(Romans 11:33)
