Multiplications!

At the end of year 4, there is a requirement for pupils to complete a multiplication check in school. The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics.

It is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times table questions. Your child will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.

Here is a link to a short video from the Department for Education about the check. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct5cDctLVTI

There are lots of things you can do to help your child practise at home. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button  and https://www.timestables.co.uk/ are examples of resources we use in school which helps pupils to recall answers speedily. Don't forget, your child also has a log in to https://ttrockstars.com/

The tests will take place in June and we shall let you know when the time approaches.
